It sets greenhouse gas intensity limits to ships trading in the EU from 2025, gradually decreasing the intensity over time, by 2% in 2025 to 80% in 2050. Siglar Carbon partners with LSEG to cut significant shipping emissions from trading desks

For charterers and traders, access to the right insights at the right time might halve emissions from single voyages. On a TC2 voyage 1,300 tonnes of CO2 and its related carbon cost could be avoided by making one single data-based decision. A partnership between London Stock Exchange Group and Siglar Carbon provides actionable emissions data to trading desks, where great carbon and cost reduction potential can be unleashed.

IMO aims for net-zero emissions from international shipping by 2050

The IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee met for their 80th session between 3rd and 7th July. The committee agreed to reach net-zero GHG emissions from international shipping ‘by or around’ 2050 and that the mid-term GHG reduction measures, including a maritime GHG emissions pricing mechanism should be finalised and adopted by 2025. Let’s take a closer look at the key outcomes of the meeting.
